
TRAINING COURSES & ASSESSMENTS
Two
Rocks Volunteer Sea Rescue Group (TRVSRG) is a YAWA training
centre with Department of Planning and Infrastructure registered
RST assessors.
In
all training courses numbers are limited to maximise learning
opportunities and are conducted by our volunteer trainers and therefore
it is essential that bookings

Our trainers hold National Police Clearance, WA Working
with Children clearance, Senior First Aid, Defibrilation and Advanced
resusitation certificates and Certificate IV Workplace training
qualifications and a lifetime of practical boating experience for you

Who has to have an RST?
The person in charge of a recreational vessel with a motor greater than
4.5 kilowatts (6 HP). Copies of the Workbook are available from TRVSRG.
TRVSRG
conducts RST assessments at times to suit the applicant. Both theory
and practical courses are held at our headquarters / training room at
the southern end of the Two Rocks Marina complex, Jordan Street, Two

Recreational Skippers Ticket - Theory Revision Course Cost $110.00
This
Theory Revision course runs for two hours immediately prior
to your chosen time for assessment. All necessary topics covered in the
RST Workbook are presented in summary. The revision includes boat
handling theory, marine rules and regulations, safety at sea,
trip planning, skippers responsibility, navigation lights and
markers.
This
revision course covers all the theoritical requirements for the
Skippers Recreational Ticket assessment to follow immediately
thereafter. Allow two hours for the revision component and up to sixty
minutes for the Theory Assessment.
Recreational Skippers Ticket - Practical Assessment Cost $110.00
The
RST Practical Assessment takes approximately 60 minutes to complete,
including a demonstration of all tasks to be assessed prior to the
commencement of the assessment. The cost includes the use of the TRVSRG vessel for assessment.

Basic Navigation Cost Members $55.00 Non-Members $75.00
This half day course is designed to familiarize people with basic marine chart work
including; plotting a course, identifying hazards, latitude and longitude,
using a compass rose and douglas protractor. A great course for those wanting a greater understanding of marine
charts and safer navigation.
Marine Radio Operators Certificate of Proficiency Cost Members $110 Non-Members $135.00
This is a five night (three hours per
night) or alternatively one weekend course. The MROCP certificate
covers the requirements for operators of VHF and HF radios , including
in depth radio procedures. Radio protocols in this course are applicable
to the use of 27MHz Marine Citizen Band Radio also.

This one day course is designed to
familiarise skippers with the functions and common traps in operating a
GPS, Includes selecting appropriate geodatic datum, inputting
waypoints, setting up routes and staying on course (COG), explanation
of SOG, VMG, Geodatic Data selection, NMEA sentences & interfaces, plus basic trouble shooting. Chart work is included.
Bring your own GPS operators manual otherwise
all materials provided.
Payment should be made before the commencement of the course with cash, cheque or postal order in person at the Sea Rescue
